One of the 3 [ Japanese ] grand festivals "the Gion festival" is the festival of Yasaka Jinja in Gion. In order to pray for epidemic dispersion about 1100 years ago, to make 66 arms of the number of the countries of the Japan whole country and to sink the curse, it is reported that it is beginning to have held the Gion spirit-of-the-dead meeting.

『『Yoshifuiri(吉府入)』』
The first ceremony of a divine work. It is the beginning of the Gion festival.

+ 2nd
『『Kujitorisiki(くじ取式)』』
The turn of a round of visits on the 17th is decided.

+ 10th 16:30
『『Omukaecyochin(お迎え提灯)』』
In order to meet a mikoshi, a procession with the paper lantern which elaborated the idea starts.

+ 10th 20:00
『『Mikoshiarai(神輿洗)』』
The mikoshi of an inside seat is washed and purified with the water of Kamogawa in Shijo-ohashi.

+ 10th - 14th
『『Hokotate(鉾建)・Yamadate(山建)』』
Yamahoko of a round of visits is taken out from a storehouse, and is assembled.

+ 13th 11:00
『『Chijisyamairi(稚児社参)』』
The page who takes halberd arms calls at Yasaka Jinja, and gets "grade."

+ 14th - 16th
『『Gionbayashi(祇園囃子)』』
The paper lantern of Yamahoko is turned on and the Gion musical accompaniment is played in a lively way.

+ 17th 9:00
『『Yamahokojinko(山鉾巡行)』』
32 sets of Yamahoko leave four-article Karasuma.

+ 17th 16:00
『『Kamisachisai(神幸祭)』』
Three sets of mikoshis make a round of visits around a parishioner neighborhood, and they remain in the four-article half-mark station of the procession.

+ 20th - 22th
『『Kyogenhono(狂言奉納)』』
Dedication of kyogen is performed by the Noh stage of Yasaka Jinja.

+ 24th
『『Hanagasajinko(花傘巡行)』』
1000 people's procession continues all members.

+ 24th
『『Kansachisai(還幸祭)』』
Three sets of mikoshis come out of the half-mark station of the procession of four articles, and a parishioner neighborhood is returned to a shrine the surroundings.

+ 28th
『『Mikoshiarai(神輿洗)』』
It washes and purifies in four-article Kamogawa, and returns to a shrine.
