It is said that it was founded in order to pay the charm against misfortunes loved in the name of "Gion-san" and the epidemic which spread in the capital at the company of prosperity in business. The peculiar style main shrine called Gion structure is reconstruction in (Jouo) 3. The Gion festival known as one of the Kyoto 3 grand festivals is the festival of this shrine. A famous weeping cherry tree will be in full bloom in April, and it will be crowded with many spectators.
